This Pacific Textile Arts class is held at Henhouse Studio on Madsen Lane just east of Fort Bragg.

This workshop will cover two topics: 1) a traditional hard cover binding and 2) how to make a lined box.
Both will take you from the planning stages through completion.

For a modest materials fee, you will be provided with text weight papers, decorative papers, book boards, glue, needles, thread, and tapes.

Materials you will need to bring are scissors, utility knife, cutting mat, ruler, pencil, notebook to take notes, beeswax and two wax paper covered bricks (cover bricks first with newspaper, then cover with waxed paper).

 

Judy Detrick has a distinguished career in Calligraphy and Book Arts. She taught calligraphy and graphic design at College of the Redwoods on the Mendocino Coast for more than 30 years, and developed the Graphic Arts Certificate Program there. She teaches regularly at several Bay Area venues and throughout Northern California. Her work is well represented in the Harrison Calligraphy Collection in Special Collections at the San Francisco Public Library.
